This week, the group left Adelaide to head north on the Stuart highway for Alice Springs. Along the way, a malicious free spirit misguided Quicksilver, the rigger, and led him off the highway and into the wilderness. Though the road became more uneven, the Phaeton’s off-road handling prevented the group from clearly realizing that they had left the highway until they jumped the vehicle off of a 2 meter embankment. Giggy, the physical adept (who happens to be fascinated with twentieth century television and movies), reprimanded Quicksilver for failing to play Dixie prior to making the jump.
At this point, Giggy and Buckwheat, the street shaman, were able to attack and then successfully banish the spirit, after which, Mickey and Quicksilver examined the vehicle and determined that they would need to find a mechanic before trying to continue on to Alice Springs.
Bringing the satellite navigation system back on-line, Quicksilver was able to determine that they were only a few kilometers from Woomera, and so they returned there. Fortunately they were able to find a mechanic who could work on the vehicle with little delay and even to do the work in exchange for a favor, rather than cred! All they had to do was pick up a package for him in Derby and bring back here within two weeks...
