Verika managed to hire a lawyer, arguing with the jailer that she needed the best lawyer in town. She also got them to provide her paper and ink so she could write a letter of complaint to Elizabeth's mother, hoping that that would scare her captors.
Meanwhile, Izelda flew back to town from the ship and managed to hire three sailors. She told the dockmaster she would be back at the same time tomorrow if anyone else was looking for work. Izelda took the three new sailors, one on her back and two in her talons, back to the ship. When she got there, she reincarnated the one friendly sailor she had accidentally killed in the heat of combat. He came back as a gnome.
Verika met with her lawyer, but wasn't knowledgeable enough in law to realize how bad her lawyer was. She continued to argue that it was not her fault and that she was assaulted by the halfling shopkeeper who had very bad manners and caused the entire problem.
When Izelda returned to town again, she found Verika in jail and offered to break her out, but Verika let Izelda know that she had hired the best lawyer in the city and should be out shortly.
Izelda hired four additional sailors and flew them out to the ship. As she was flying off to town she spotted something large moving toward the ship quickly. She banked hard back to the ship, squawking loudly. Schmidt and Leve realized she was concerned ab out something coming up astern.
Leve moved to the rail and tried to see what Izelda saw. Izelda landed on the aft rail and tried to figure out what it was. The things moved closer to the ship, closing quickly. One of the sailors dropped into the crew quarters and sounded the alarm, waking everyone down there. Schmidt cast and started moving toward the stern.
Leaning over the port rail, Leve identified the things as dinichthys, and moved to the poop deck. Izelda called a lightning storm. The dinichthys moved closer, one moving starboard, the other port. Sailors moved and drew bows. Schmidt cast again and moved.
Leve cast truestrike and waited near the aft rail. Izelda squawked and hit one of the creatures with lighting, then took off. The dinichthys moved, the starboard one getting close to the ship. Sailors missed, the gnome at the till running for cover, leaving the wheel unsecured. Schmidt retrieved an enlarge potion and drank it.
Leve dropped a daze grenade on the creature to starboard. Izelda hit the other with lightning and flew up. The dinichthys to port swam up, the other, dazed, fell behind. Several sailors shot again, but none penetrated the thing's hide. Schmidt moved again and cast.
Leve cast truestrike again and moved to the other side of the ship. Izelda flew back and hit the dazed creature with another bolt of lightning. The dinichthys aside the ship leapt and crashed onto the rail, biting one of the sailors there and killing him. The sailors shot again, this time one of them hitting the thing. Schmidt stepped to the edge of the poopdeck and shot twice, hitting the creature both times.
Leve threw a second stun grenade and hit the dino on the rail. Spanky threw a glob of poo and hit it as well. Izelda flew down onto the dinichthys astride the ship and turned into a squid. Both dinichthys drifted back away from the ship. Leve hit the one that was partially on the deck as it slid off. The sailors regrouped and fired again, a couple hitting this time. Schmidt hit it twice, killing it.
Leve cast truestrike again and moved aft. Izelda shredded the corpse. The second dinichthys recovered and started swimming toward Izelda. The sailors moved away from the rail. Schmidt stepped to the rail and shot twice, hitting the creature.
Leve stepped to the rail and warded Izelda. Izelda moved to stay near the ship. The dinichthys continued to move toward Izelda. The sailors moved indoors Schmidt shot twice, hitting the thing both times.
Leve waited to see what the creature was doing. Izelda released an ink cloud and drifted with it, waiting for the dinichthys to close. The Dinichthys turned and dove, swimming away. The sailors finished getting inside. Schmidt shot twice, hitting and killing the thing.
