Schmidt and Verika headed back to get the caravan so they could set up camp in the cave. Despite the smell, the cave did have the advantage of only one entrance, and that having a pit trap.
Leve checked the mirror over carefully, then released the elf, Nanu. He got her clothed before Verika and Schmidt returned.
Schmidt and Verika did not have any luck convincing the caravan master to set up camp in the cave. In fact, the caravan master finally told Verika, "Be at camp or don't expect to be paid," when she had had enough of Verika's poor persuasion.
Verika and Schmidt returned to the cave. Leve conjured another mount and harnessed it to one wagon, while Schmidt harnessed Biff to the other. Then they proceeded to camp with the two additional wagons.
The next night, Nanu and Leve were on watch with two of the wagon guards when something clawed at Nanu. She turned and saw a man clawing at her again.
His next swing hit Nanu. She carefully but quickly backed away. The two guards from the wagon moved between her and the attacker. One of the guards hit a second man coming out of the darkness. Leve moved around the campfire and cast burning hands, scorching the two assailants.
The man next to Leve attacked him with a sword, but it bounced off Leve's armor. The other hit one of the guards. Verika climbed out of the wagon she was sleeping in after the clamor. Nanu ran toward Verika. Izelda ran out and cast firesnake between the guards and through the two attackers, then around Leve, leaving the attackers as charred corpses.
Verika retrieved the chainmail and longswords from the two attackers.
The next day they were expecting to make it to town. Izelda changed into a large bird and grabbed Verika to scout ahead. The arrived in town several hours before the caravan and caroused. Verika taking the opportunity to steal the purse of a man trying to repulse Izelda's unwanted advances, then return it to him filled with stones.
When the caravan arrived, Leve was paid for the group. The next morning, Leve and Schmidt negotiated with their caravan master to sell the fine clothing, furs, and some assorted jewelry and gemstones they had found along the way, as well as some basic weapons.
