In Shadowrun, your characters are the grunts at the bottom of the social pile—those willing to take on illegal or quasi-legal tasks on behalf of whoever wishes to pay the most. On the one hand, you can get very rich and powerful this way, many 'runners have, but on the other hand, the law is intolerant if you are caught, and that's nothing compared to what a corp will do if you are caught running against them...
